What Makes Troop 399 different?
What sets Troop 399 apart from the rest? It's the strong sense of family that defines our troop, crew, and pack. When you become a part of Troop 399, you instantly become a member of a family that has steadily grown with each passing year. Many who have been part of our troop return in various capacities—as supporters, adult leaders, or the next generation of 399 parents.
It's common to find multiple generations of leaders, scouts, and Eagle Scouts who continue to actively support and engage with Troop 399. For instance, in our 2022 Eagle ceremony, we celebrated three second-generation Eagles and one third-generation Eagle. Another testament to our family spirit is evident in our current leaders. Our former Scoutmaster of 2023, Jim Griese, is part of the three-generation legacy within Troop 399, with Dick Griese serving as the troop's head cook and Jim's son Charlie Griese being a current scout. Similarly, our former Scoutmaster and current Chartered Organization Rep, Jim Riordan, represents three generations of 399 leaders, Tim Riordan serving as a previous 399 Scoutmaster (may he rest in peace), Jim's brother Matt Riordan currently serving as our Scoutmaster, and Matt's sons are active members of our troop.
This tradition of leadership through the generations has transformed Troop 399 into a genuine family. It's the ongoing legacy of families adding to our story year after year that has shaped Troop 399 into what it is today. We invite you to join this tradition and become a part of the lineage that has carried us through 68 years and continues to thrive into the future. Click here to apply!
Our Troop uses Discord as its primary form of communication for youth and adult leaders. It allows for 24/7 two deep leadership and transparency for parents on what their scout is seeing and responding to within different channels.
It is highly recommended scouts and parents join this link to the left as scouts will be given channels for them to speak with other patrol members and prep for meetings or trips.
Parents will also be able to see all troop announcements about upcoming meetings or trips alongside their scoutbook emails.
